History

Our Story

Cotto Winebar and Trattoria is an award-winning Italian tapas restaurant, located in downtown Stamford. Cotto brings you genuine taste of Rome, Italy to right to the corner of 51 Bank street Stamford Connecticut. Reminiscent of the hip urban eateries found throughout the culturally inspired and historically celebrated capital of Italia, Cotto Wine Bar was begun in 2012 by Claudio Ridolfi, based on his memories of years of living in Italy. Designed with a 70-seat wine bar He set out to recreate the feel and the look of an evening in Rome.

Cotto combines a modish culinary culture with an impassioned wine identity. A comprehensive list of wines by the glass from around the world, with an emphasis on the lesser-known regions of Italy. He were guided not by any places that existed at the time, but only by what He liked, and the way He liked it.

The 400+ selection of wine labels are divided among the main wine producing regions in Italy and abroad. A strong emphasis is placed on the “Grands” and the most interesting productions of both large and boutique Italian vineyards including Barolo and Barbaresco, which feature the grape varietals Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo – from the most notable to the most intriguing wines produced today.

The impressive wine program is matched by a vibrant menu designed around bold and contrasting Italian Tapas and Mozzarella Bar that marry very well with wine. A variety of house made mozzarella charcuterie formaggio paninis pasta market fresh fish and meat and COTTO’s brick-oven pizza are all dishes inspired by regional Italian favorites and old and new school preparations.
