Restaurateur Claudio introduced Cotto Wine Bar to downtown Stamford in 2012. Taking its cues from Claudio’s Roma Italia upbringing and work experience, Cotto offers rustic Italian fare and a full-bodied selection of regional Italian wine varietals. Today, Cotto remains dedicated to providing its customers with a meaningful dining experience
Cotto is reminiscent of a tucked away wine bar found in the veiled streets of Rome. Designed as a tapas style wine bar with communal dining tables, the focal point of this hip urban eatery is the exposed brick wall adorned with vintage photos and magazine covers of Silvy’s (Claudio’s wife) mother who was a prominent actress and model in Italy throughout the 1960s-70s.
Cotto combines an old school culinary ethos with an impassioned wine identity. The 400+ selection of wine labels are divided among the main wine producing regions in Italy and abroad. A strong emphasis is placed on the “Grands” and the most interesting productions of both large and boutique Italian vineyards including Barolo and Barbaresco, which feature the grape varietals Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo – from the most notable to the most intriguing wines produced today.
The impressive wine program is matched by a vibrant menu designed around an array of Italian tapas, including fresh mozzarella bar favorites, as well as house made pasta, wood-fired pizza, market fresh fish, grass fed beef, and seasonal produce.
Cotto is where people gather over great food and wine.
